Four Medals, One Remarkable Journey: William Jin Shines for Team USA

2026 ITTF Americas U11 & U13 Championships
At the 2026 ITTF Americas U11 & U13 Championships, William Jin, a young athlete from Micro Motion Table Tennis Academy, proudly represented Team USA and delivered an outstanding performance, bringing home two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. Competing in four different events, William earned a place on the podium in every one of them.
This remarkable achievement marks not only an exciting competitive milestone but also a memorable chapter in William's journey as a young table tennis athlete.
Four Medals, Four Podium Finishes, One Unforgettable Journey
The ITTF Americas U11 & U13 Championships bring together talented young table tennis players from across the Americas. With athletes representing different countries, playing styles, and competitive backgrounds, every match presents a new challenge that tests technical skills, adaptability, and mental strength.
William delivered an impressive performance across four events:
🥇 Boys' Doubles — Gold Medal
🥇 Boys' Team — Gold Medal
🥈 Boys' Singles — Silver Medal
🥉 Mixed Doubles — Bronze Medal
Four events. Four podium finishes.
His silver medal in Boys' Singles highlighted his individual competitive ability, while the two gold medals in Boys' Doubles and Boys' Team demonstrated his ability to work alongside his Team USA teammates toward a shared goal.
Although table tennis is often viewed as an individual sport, doubles and team competitions require much more than individual skill. Communication, trust, and teamwork become just as important. Players must not only perform at their best but also adjust to their partners' rhythm and make decisions together as matches unfold.
For a young athlete, achieving success in singles, doubles, and team events makes this international experience especially meaningful.
A Passion That Started at Six, One Step at a Time
Behind every medal is a journey of hard work that often goes unseen.
William began structured table tennis training at the age of six. Like many young athletes who fall in love with the sport, his journey has not always been filled with victories.
Technical challenges, mistakes during competition, and the pressure of facing stronger opponents are all part of growing as an athlete. Sometimes, improvements made in training do not immediately translate into better results in tournaments. Other times, even tremendous effort may not lead to the outcome a player hopes for.
But William has always kept moving forward.
In 2025, he earned a place on the U.S. U11 National Team and finished as the Boys' U11 Singles Runner-Up at WTT Youth Contender San Francisco. As he continued to train and gain competitive experience, he gradually became more comfortable competing at higher levels.
Now, representing Team USA at the ITTF Americas Championships and returning with four medals adds another significant milestone to his growing athletic journey.
William once shared a simple motto that reflects his approach to the sport:
"To be confident and never give up!"
The words may be simple, but they capture one of the most difficult lessons in competitive sports: believing in yourself and continuing to work hard, even when things do not go as planned.
Beyond Winning: Growing Through Every Challenge
For a young athlete, the value of international competition goes far beyond medals and final results.
Facing opponents from different countries and adjusting to unfamiliar playing styles requires athletes to observe, adapt, and respond quickly. The pace and atmosphere of international competition can be very different from everyday training.
In close matches, the ability to stay calm, regain focus after mistakes, and trust one's strategy under pressure can be just as important as technical ability.
These are lessons that cannot be fully learned through practice alone. They develop through real competition, one match and one challenge at a time.
For William, this championship was both an opportunity to demonstrate the progress he has made and a starting point for the next stage of his development.
Gold medals are worth celebrating, but silver and bronze medals deserve just as much pride. Every podium finish represents challenges faced, lessons learned, and the determination to keep fighting until the very end.
The Journey Is Just Beginning
From the first time he picked up a paddle to representing the United States on the international stage, William's journey is a reminder of what passion and perseverance can accomplish.
We are incredibly proud of his achievements and grateful to the coaches, family members, teammates, and his equipment sponsor, Paddle Palace, who have supported him along the way.
At Micro Motion Table Tennis Academy, we have had the privilege of watching William grow as both a player and a person, and we look forward to seeing him take on new challenges in the years ahead.
For every young player who is just beginning their own table tennis journey, William's story carries a simple but meaningful message:
You don't have to rush to prove how good you are. Stay passionate, give your best effort in every practice, and face each challenge with courage. With time, dedication, and perseverance, your progress will speak for itself.
This is a journey worth remembering, and the beginning of another exciting chapter.
